Today has been an exceptionally lazy day, which suits me just fine. It’s so nice to have a Sunday without the pressures of the coming work week looming over me.
Yesterday I ran my 18 miler. I actually can’t believe I made it because my legs started to feel sore and tired within the first about 5 miles. But I pushed through that somehow – I guess I just shut off my brain to that feeling and concentrated on my “mini-goals” and enjoying the beautiful day. The last two miles of the run required some heroic effort on my part, but I made it and I’m proud of myself for having done so! It’s really neat to run so much of Manhattan because it makes you realize how concentrated life is there. My roommate gifted me with some Clif Shot Blocs, but I didn’t use those on this run, instead sticking to my usual vanilla gel substance. I get nervous about trying out something new on a long run and I don’t like the idea of having to chew (haha I want to conserve as much energy as possible).
Last night O and I went out for Valentine’s dinner at the Clinton Street Baking Company which is famous for having amazing brunches and often has lines an hour long on Saturday & Sunday mornings. Turns out that dinner is great too. I had scallops and O had pancakes – they are famous for their amazing pancakes and had a special V-day strawberry pancake with chocolate covered strawberries on top. It was so decadent and was more like dessert than dinner. I stole a couple of bites, but was glad I had a real dinner and not something that rich.
After dinner we headed out to Brooklyn to see the Virgins. Apparently they’ve been featured on Gossip Girl, so the show was sold out and O commented that the crowd made him feel old! I didn’t notice how young everyone was until he said that. Anyway, this is my favorite song they played, “Rich Girls”:
Pretty catchy, ain’t it?
I’m home with my parents for a couple days now and I’m off to eat some ice cream and Valentine’s Day chocolates that they have….basically I’m extending my lazy Sunday for the rest of the evening. Happy Sunday night everyone!

Heyyya, thanks for the running advice. A lot of people seem to insist no more than five, but I might try six out for a couple days and see how it goes.
Okay, and how jealous am I that you get to run in Manhattan? Why, oh why, did I move to the Midwest?
i love shot blocks because they taste like candy to me and im all for candy. ive never tried a gu before bc in my mind i think they’ll taste nasty and ill waste a bunch of calories on something gross. ok im going to stop now… just plain retarded…
ok this is bordering on stalking with 2 comments, but i tagged you for a picture game/thing.
